Wild life in Mumbai :-

Flora

Taraporewala Aquarium is situated along the Marine Drive in Mumbai. The late Dr. The many splendours of this lush green inner-city jungle never cease to amaze. Fauna

The Park has been home to an incredibly large and diverse variety of animals, birds and insects, and has been sheltering life in the wild since the urbanization of Mumbai. And the best part is, you can have a first-hand experience of these splendorous sights of the forest.

Borivilli National Park

This Park lies within Greater Bombay and forms part of the catchment area of the Vihar and Powai lakes. It includes a lion safari park and the Kanheri caves.

Lion Safari Park/Krishnagiri UPV/Sanjay Gandhi National Park

The National Park, also called Krishnagiri Upvan has the Gandhi Smriti Mandir on Pavilion Hill. The Lion Safari park gives visitors an opportunuity to watch the Indian lion from special, closed vehicles. The Lion Safari park is open on all days, except Monday.

Karnala Bird Sanctuary (80 Km)

The protected area contains a historic fort. Apart from over a hundred species of birds, leopards and antelopes can also be spotted in this reserve. Unfortunately, a highway runs through the forest. The sanctuary is open to visitors throughout the year. The resident bird and animal population can be seen at any time of the year, especially the monsoons, while the best time to see migratory birds is from October to April.

Sewri Mangrove Park

It lies between Sewri and Trombay. Seven species of mangroves and several hundred species of birds can be seen in this fifteen acre reservation. This Park was declared a protected area by the Bombay Port Trust on January 15 1996.

Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary

This is a part of the catchment area of the Tansa lake and is surrounded by the forests of Shahapur, Khardi and Wada.
